Security to the Rescue...
Nancy's daughter, Sarah, rode into our Portland break to discover she had been riding several miles on a flat tire. What a trooper. Biker Security to the rescue. They got us fixed up and back on the trail.
The trailer was stocked with a battery airpump, plenty of water, extra bikes and all kinds of snacks. We could always count on seeing Security at every bike crossing cheering us on. I must say I was a bit jealous to see them soaking up the sun with a beer and sitting on a nice big chair. Especially when I think about what I have been sitting on for 25 miles now.

Yeah Lunch...Lunch in Mokane, the only bar or food in town. They were ready for us and turned our orders around in no time. I assumed all the chicks would order something light like a salad. Boy, was I wrong. I never saw so much BEEF on one table. Everyone indulged with not just cheeseburgers but DOUBLE cheeseburgers. I would have served this amount of meat to my entire family. Mark and I will be back to this bar to get one of those burgers. Never seen anything like it. I think everyone was carbing up for the last 20 miles to Jeff.

Ride...Ride...Ride...The trail was beautiful. We all found our pace. We had a short stop every 6 - 10 miles for the final leg. All anxious to see the State Capitol and know we would finally give our buns a rest.

Yess...The bridge to our overnight destination and long awaited rest. What a intense structure this was to get us up and over the Jeff City bridge. You could actually ride all the way up with a gradual incline. It was hard to have so much up at the end of 45 miles but I just kept thinking about all the down on the way back.

Have you ever...
rolled your bike into a hotel. Well we sure have now. Right on up the elevator and into a rooms. That was a first. No one wants to loose the all precious way home. Even though our bums were wishing for other transportation.

Best idea ever...to soak in a steamy hot tub and ease those achy muscles. I think everyone enjoyed this treat.
In our happy place...Well over half our group plays Bocie Ball every Thursday night so to find a bar with lanes was just a bonus treat. We had tons of fun teaching the game to the other half of our group.

A night of fun - well deserved...
The Prison Brewery - really has prison bars inside. What a COOL place. If you ever get the chance it is worth going to Jeff to hang out here.

Breakfast and back on the trail...
The hotel had a wonderful breakfast on the Penthouse floor with a 360 view of the city. We filled our tanks in preparation for 45 miles home.

Lunch in Portland..Rode 30 miles to lunch in Portland. You can only order fried food at this local bar. How about some Pork Rhines. The bar was a little overwhelmed and understaffed for all 20 of us. But not to worry my Dad slung a towel over his shoulder and pitched in taking orders and serving all of us. We would still be there if it wasn't for my Pops.
My parents truly missed hosting a lunch on the trail for us like last year. I have already locked him down for Sunday lunch on the trail next year. It will be worth going for the spread my parents put out. Special treat...My mom met up with us for lunch and I talked her into riding a 5 miles of the trail with me.

Last 10 miles..
The best part was the last 10 miles, first of all knowing at this point we would all make it. Secondly we rode in together.
